Lead theft from the village church!

As some of you may already know, a quantity of lead was stolen off the roof of the north aisle of the church on Sunday or Monday night (September 25-6). We, and the police, would be interested to hear any reports of unusual activity seen or heard in or around the village over that time.

The lead has treated to make it identifiable to our church and publicising this is known to act as a deterrent together with much tighter controls on the scrap metal trade. However, it finally hasn’t worked for us! We have already taken steps to increase security but ask everyone to keep eyes and ears open in case we are paid another visit.

Many thanks to John and Barry Varney for dropping everything on Tuesday to weatherproof the stripped area!
